Caslon Typefaces Poster
They say “when in doubt, use Caslon”, but I ask “which one?” The poster and animation are a visual study showing Caslon in its three most used contemporary faces—Adobe Caslon, Big Caslon andLTC Caslon. The purpose of this exercise is to identify common charecteristics in Caslon's forms in terms of shape, motion, and scale.
The assignemnt was to select a typeface and dissect its forms within varied 3x3 tiles compositions.Portions of that assignment are adapted from the assignments “The Letter and the Typeface” by Dan Boyarski, former head of Carnegie Mellon’s School of Design, and “Drawing Letterforms” by Julian Bittiner, senior critic at Yale’s School of Art.
